A study on export from India: An application of the ARIMA model

Author(s): Amandeep Batra and Rajinder Singh Vohra

Abstract: The best-suited model selected for export performance forecasting became ARIMA (0, 1, 1), after performing statistical tests on various models. The model demonstrated success at passing stationarity tests through error term which is a prerequisite for accurate forecasting. With this tested model the researchers generated export projection forecasts between, August 2023 through March 2024. The statistical data points to growing values of Indian exports which indicates promising international trading conditions for the country over the coming months. The study results provide critical knowledge for public officials as well as to business operators and trade assessment specialists. A sustained export expansion would build India’s international trading power base, which then would enhance foreign currency reserves while enabling economic growth. Forecasted export performance will be subjected to modifications because of worldwide economic instability together with trade regulations and changing geopolitical dynamics. Statistical modelling establishes vital importance in trade analysis because it offers data-driven methods for studying India’s export behaviour patterns.
