The impact of the dimensions of digital citizenship in reducing digital social engineering attacks, an analytical study in Iraqi telecommunications companies

Abstract: The research is grounded in a philosophical perspective that aligns with the current trends in administrative information systems, particularly in the field of security. It is also framed within the concept of digital citizenship, which encompasses the ability to embrace sustainable advancements and the increasing utilization of information and communication technology as a fundamental element. To mitigate digital social engineering assaults Therefore, a unique study methodology was employed to examine the aspects of digital citizenship and the various forms of digital social engineering assaults, with the aim of assessing the impact of digital citizenship in mitigating such attacks. The research focused on the telecommunications companies in Asia, specifically Asia Cell, Zain, and Korek. The study challenge was succinctly outlined using two frameworks: an intellectual framework that explores the internal aspects of digital citizenship and its influence on mitigating digital social engineering assaults. The applied framework primarily concentrated on generating a set of questions that assess and examine the influence and interconnection of various factors. In order to address these inquiries, a questionnaire was devised as the primary instrument for data collection. This questionnaire was distributed both in physical form and digitally to a sample of individuals employed in the telecommunications companies under investigation. Each surveyed company had a total of 100 employees working in the Information Systems Department. Additionally, the researcher employed the creation of a computer program to safeguard the collected data. Details on the sample under investigation. The research yielded several findings, with the most significant being that the dimensions of digital citizenship have a role in mitigating digital social engineering attacks, as observed among the persons examined in the study. The researcher's findings include several recommendations, with the most crucial one being that digital citizenship plays a significant strategic role in the development and management of enterprises, aiming to strengthen cyber tactics and minimize security breaches.
