Abstract: The quality of hostel services plays a crucial role in determining the overall satisfaction and well-being of university students. With the rising number of students opting for residential facilities, understanding the differences in service quality and satisfaction between government and private university hostels has become essential. This study aims to provide a comprehensive comparative analysis of the quality of services and the satisfaction levels of hostellers in government and private university hostels in Rajasthan. This research is conducted using a quantitative approach, with data collected through a structured questionnaire administered to students residing in both government and private university hostels in Rajasthan. The sample includes a diverse group of hostelers from various universities to ensure a representative understanding of the conditions across different types of institutions. The study examines key dimensions of service quality such as cleanliness, security, food quality, amenities, and administrative support. Additionally, it evaluates the overall satisfaction levels of hostellers. The findings reveal that while there are commonalities in the basic services offered by both government and private university hostels, significant differences exist in certain areas that impact student satisfaction. The analysis shows whether these differences in service quality lead to a substantial disparity in satisfaction levels between the two types of hostels. Furthermore, the study explores how the quality of services correlates with the satisfaction levels of hostellers and whether this relationship differs between government and private institutions. The implications of this research are twofold. First, it provides insights for university administrators and policymakers to improve the quality of hostel services, ensuring a better living environment for students. Second, it offers a deeper understanding of the factors contributing to student satisfaction in residential facilities, which can aid in the formulation of strategies to enhance the overall student experience in both government and private universities. The study concludes with recommendations for both types of institutions to address gaps in service quality and to align their offerings more closely with the expectations and needs of hostelers. By highlighting the areas where improvements are needed, this research aims to contribute to the development of more effective and student-centered hostel management practices in universities.
