Assessing the role of self-help groups in the socio-economic development of Sambalpur: Insights from members and beneficiaries

Abstract: The study examines the role of self-help groups in the socio-economic development of their members and beneficiaries in Sambalpur. For the study primary data was collected from 176 respondents of Sambalpur district of Odisha. The study uses factor analysis and Regression to analyse the role of SHG in socio-economic development of Sambalpur. The study uses IBM SPSS software and Microsoft Excel for data analysis. The results show that SHGs have enhanced the socio-economic condition of peoples, especially women are being empowered due to self-help groups. The people feel motivated by their coworkers, and they are getting the benefits of various schemes available for them. Loans are also easily available to them. All these factors have led to an increase in their income, and their social status has also improved.
