India’s trade future: Evaluating the impact of the India-middle east-Europe economic corridor

Author(s): Amaan Anjum

Abstract: The India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) represents a transformative trade and connectivity initiative designed to enhance economic integration between Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. This paper analyses the economic prospects of IMEC for India using an econometric approach, assessing its potential impact on trade, GDP growth, investment, and regional economic dynamics. Through a gravity model of trade and structural equation modelling, we quantify the expected economic benefits for India. The findings suggest that IMEC could substantially reduce trade costs, increase exports, and enhance India's role in global supply chains.
