Abstract:
This research examines the transformative potential of blockchain technology within the dairy supply chain, highlighting its effects on transparency, traceability, and operational efficiency. Considering the emerging use of blockchain in the dairy sector, an exploratory research design was employed to assess current practices, challenges, and opportunities, supplemented by a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to identify trends and insights from related research. Findings indicate that blockchain can enhance dairy supply chain management by ensuring data integrity, reducing fraud, and fostering consumer trust through secure, immutable records. However, challenges such as high implementation costs, technical complexities, and limited digital infrastructure in rural regions present significant barriers to adoption.
This study emphasizes a phased qualitative approach to address key challenges in implementing blockchain technology in dairy supply chains. It proposes pilot programs, stakeholder training, collaborative partnerships, and investments in digital infrastructure as essential steps. Furthermore, the study advocates for in-depth qualitative research into the economic implications of blockchain to guide its effective adoption. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of blockchain's role in fostering digital transformation, paving the way for a more transparent, efficient, and sustainable dairy supply chain.
