The possibility of applying the requirements of the educational institutions management system according to the iso 21001:2018 specification using the 8d methodology: A case study in the college of economics and business

Abstract: This research aims to evaluate the level of implementation of ISO 21001:2012 requirements in educational institutions using the 8D methodology as a tool for gap analysis and institutional performance improvement. The study focused on analyzing seven main clauses including: organizational context, leadership, planning, support, operation, performance evaluation, and improvement. Results showed that the overall implementation rate of the specification reached 70%, while the total gap reached 30%, reflecting significant gaps in some areas that require sustainable improvements. The study indicates multiple strengths, such as leadership commitment, achieving institutional objectives, and efficient management of educational outputs. However, major weaknesses were identified in change planning (41% gap), distribution of leadership roles and responsibilities (64% gap), and awareness and internal communication (63% and 50% gaps respectively).Through applying the 8D methodology, root causes of these gaps were analyzed, such as lack of training, absence of planning flexibility, and resource weakness. The research concluded that the 8D methodology is an effective tool for identifying and reducing gaps, enhancing institutions' ability to meet specification requirements. The research recommended adopting sustainable improvement plans including awareness, regular process review, and maximum utilization of available capabilities to achieve continuous improvement in institutional performance.
