Author(s): Krishnamoorthi M and Rachel Maria G

Abstract: This study explores customer perception of green banking in Bengaluru City, focusing on awareness, attitudes, and adoption of environmentally sustainable banking practices. Green banking includes initiatives like paperless transactions, online services, and eco-friendly operations aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of financial institutions. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data from 150 respondents across various locations in Bengaluru. The findings reveal moderate awareness and adoption, influenced by factors such as age, education, income, and digital literacy. Younger and more educated customers showed higher inclination toward green practices. However, limited communication and lack of incentives hinder wider acceptance. Banks need to enhance customer engagement through awareness campaigns and user-friendly services. The study highlights the role of customer perception in the success of green banking. Insights from the research can help banks design more effective green strategies. Overall, the study emphasizes the need for sustainable banking aligned with evolving customer expectations.
