Tourism and hospitality research in Odisha: A bibliometric analysis

Abstract: Tourism and hospitality are the most important sectors in the entire world economy. It acts as a prime source of revenue and overall economic development. Odisha i.e referred to as the “best kept secret of India” is emerging as a one of the buckets lists favorite destination for visitors. Here, most of the people be it rural or urban area depended on Tourism and Hospitability. As many researchers are focusing on Odisha Tourism and Hospitality. The purpose of this study is to review the Odisha Tourism and Hospitality research in the past 22 year’s i.e from 2000 to 2022. The main focus is to analyze its trend and current status, the limitation of the previous studies, and the prospects in these areas. Using the Dimension database, a total of 57 articles were selected after removing duplicates. For better presentation tables, graphs, and the VOSviewer software were used to analyze documents based on year, publication, citation, origin, Journal, etc. It was also found that research in these areas has increased in the last few years and maximum number of publications were seen. The study provides an overview of the present scenario of Tourism and Hospitality research. Further, there exists a golden opportunity for a similar type of research into the emerging types of tourism in Odisha.
