Abstract:
The chosen quantitative study aimed to investigate the role of emotional intelligence in conflict resolution in a workplace environment. It focused on Human Resource (HR) departments in selected private organizations in Bangladesh, especially the residential hotels organizations of Cox’s Bazar and Kuakata. The key goal was to explore how the dimensions of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and relationship management affected the quality of conflict resolution and organizational performance outcomes. The data was gathered through a structured questionnaire developed along a 5-point Likert scale, which was distributed among HR employees working for the private organizations in Bangladesh, especially the residential hotels organizations of Cox’s Bazar and Kuakata. Descriptive and inferential analysis were conducted to outline the links between emotional intelligence and conflict management practices. The results showed that high levels of emotional intelligence increased employees’ ability to address interpersonal tension, handle communication, and sustain their professional relationship during conflicts. Additionally, emotional regulation and empathy were identified to be strong contributors to the effectiveness of conflict resolution in terms of job satisfaction. In conclusion, the study suggested that promoting emotional intelligence through training and support could significantly reduce conflicts and enhance the performance of HR.
