Author(s): Mukku Syam Babu
Abstract: Being the largest private sector in India, agriculture occupies a central position in the Indian economy. With deep linkages to production, processing, and marketing sectors, agriculture continues to shape the structure and growth pattern of the nation’s development. The Green Revolution brought significant efficiency and productivity improvements, yet new challenges such as climate change, soil degradation, and water scarcity demand innovative and sustainable strategies. This paper explores the role of sustainable agricultural practices in enhancing productivity in India using secondary data. It highlights how sustainable farming systems integrate ecological balance, economic viability, and social equity to ensure long-term agricultural prosperity. The study underscores that sustainable agriculture not only increases productivity and employment but also conserves vital natural resources and ensures food security for future generations. Through an analytical overview of government policies, emerging technologies, and farmer-led innovations, the paper emphasizes the urgent need for sustainable frameworks to strengthen India’s agricultural resilience.
