Does green leadership affect sustainability? / A study of the role of green leadership in promoting a strategic approach to sustainability

Abstract: This research aims to understand how green leadership acts as an independent variable, while strategic orientation towards sustainability will be seen as a dependent variable. A model was established to depict and will be put through statistical testing to understand and conceptualize this relationship. The research population was Al-Muthanna University and its colleges. The research sample was obtained purposefully to gain the most valid results, targeting department and division heads, deans and their assistants, and heads of academic departments and branches, as this cluster is accountable for the formulation and execution of the strategic decisions of the university. 170 people were sampled, and the questionnaire was administered and gauged electronically through Google Forms.Using SPSS v25 and Amos, various statistical techniques obtained from training exercises pertinent to October 2023 were implemented within the study, including, but not limited to, validity and reliability, and linear regression correlation. The research carried out has number of conclusions, most pronounced of which was establishing the existence of positive correlation and effect of green leadership practice and strategic orientation of sustainability of Al-Muthanna University and the colleges and its affiliates. One of the most important observances was referred to the senior administration of the university to vertically and horizontally integrate these green management and sustainability practices interdisciplinary to proximate strategic plans and observably and quantitatively define plans and objectives, including, but not limited to, the environmental preservation through mitigation and conservation of energy.
