An empirical study on relationship between amounts spent on CSR and financial variables of selected companies in India

Abstract: Nowadays corporate social responsibility (CSR) plays a vital role in showing the commitment and integrity of a company towards the society/public. Business and society are the two sides of a single coin. The business can’t live without the society. This commitment and integrity result in the financial performance of companies. Therefore, proposed is an examination of the relationship between the amount spent on CSR & financial performance. Therefore, the company has to take care and invest part of the money in the society. The amount spent on CSR may also build the positive image of the company towards the society. Therefore, the proposed study intended to explore the relationship between the amount spent on CSR and financial elements of the company. The present empirical study considered the secondary data for 6 years, from 2019 to 2025. They employed correlation and regression to analyze data through the SPSS software. The study revealed that there exists a positive relationship between the amount spent on CSR and selected financial variables except for a few companies' total debt. It is shown that the amount spent on CSR improves the financial performance of selected companies in India.
