E-learning in higher education: Challenges and impacts on academic performance among commerce and management students

Abstract: The study explores the relationships among technological barriers, autonomy & self-regulation, collaboration, and attitudes towards e-learning and the profound effect on learning outcomes. A descriptive cross-sectional design was employed to gather data from 770 undergraduate students at Delhi University using purposive sampling and Likert-scale questionnaires. Descriptive statistics, correlation, factor analysis, and regression by using SPSS & MS Excel were employed to evaluate the impacts of e-learning. The study noted the considerable challenges arising from poor internet connectivity, lack of necessary devices, and low participation levels. Subsequently, the profound challenges of e-Learning due to the negative challenges of students-teachers interconnectedness and isolation on the psychological grounding advanced the low learning outcomes. The results show that schools need to improve their digital infrastructure, instructional design, and student support systems to make sure that students perform better in e-learning environments.
